UCNJ Host Region XIX Tournament
Scotch Plains, NJ - The 2024 Region XIX Men’s and Women’s Golf Tournament took place May 12–13 at the challenging yet rewarding Ash Brook Golf Course in Scotch Plains, New Jersey.
On the men’s side, Rowan College of South Jersey Gloucester captured the team title with a two-day total of 662, narrowly edging out County College of Morris, who finished second at 678. Ocean County College rounded out the top three with a score of 700.
The individual men’s champion was Gloucester’s Nick Iuliucci, who carded a two-day total of 158. Close behind was returning All-American Mateo Medina from Rowan College of South Jersey Cumberland, who posted a 161 to claim second place.
In the women’s competition, Sydni Sundstrom of Morris claimed medalist honors with a standout two-day score of 167. Lanie Guzman of Gloucester secured second place, finishing with a score of 235.
Ash Brook Golf Course once again proved to be a fitting venue for a championship event. Its demanding layout challenges even the best golfers in Region XIX, while still offering opportunities for strategic scoring.
The top performers from the Region XIX Championship will now advance to represent their colleges at the NJCAA Men’s and Women’s Golf National Championships, which is set to begin June 2 in Chautauqua, New York.
