Acosta and McKay Named GSAC Player of the Week
Cranford, NJ - UCNJ men’s basketball standout, Nicolas Acosta, and women’s basketball freshman, Jasmin McKay, have been recognized by the Garden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) as Players of the Week for their outstanding performances on the court.
Nicolas Acosta – DIII Men’s Basketball GSAC Player of the Week
Sophomore guard Nicolas Acosta led the Owls to back-to-back road victories this week, earning GSAC DIII Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors.
On November 8, Acosta helped powered UCNJ to an 89-61 victory over Bergen Community College, posting 27 points while shooting 55% (11-20) from the field and adding 5 rebounds. Just days later, on November 11, he followed up with another dominant performance in an 88-66 road win at Rowan College of South Jersey–Gloucester, tallying 26 points on an impressive 80% shooting (12-15) and going 2-for-4 from the line.
Acosta’s leadership and efficiency have been key to the Owls’ early-season success, helping set the tone.
Next game for UCNJ Men's Basketball is Thursday, November 13 at 7:00pm est, as they travel to Lincroft, NJ to face conference opponent Brookdale Community College. After that, they travel to Harrisburg Area Community College to face them on Saturday, November 15 at 12:00pm est. Jasmin McKay – DII Women’s Basketball GSAC Player of the Week
Freshman guard Jasmin McKay continued to shine for the Owls, earning GSAC DII Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honors after another strong outing.
On Saturday, November 8, UCNJ faced Brookdale Community College, where McKay delivered a dynamic all-around performance. She led her team with 26 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, and 1 block, helping lift the Owls to victory.
McKay has quickly made her mark as a key contributor for UCNJ, showcasing her scoring ability and defensive presence each game. The Owls will be on the road to take on #4-ranked CCBC Essex on Thursday, November 13 at 6:00pm est. After that, they visit Anne Arundel Community College on Saturday, November 15, tipping off at 1:00pm est.
