Warfield Captures Gold and Silver at Nationals & Earns Three All-American Honors
Cranford, NJ - UCNJ Union College of Union County, NJ showed out at Nationals. Freshman Zuriel Battle represented the Owls on the men's side, and freshman, Alyssa Remy Warfield on the women's side. Warfield delivered an outstanding performance on the national stage at the 2026 NJCAA Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Utica, New York, capturing a National Championship title in the women’s javelin competition while also earning a silver medal finish in the women’s shot put.
Warfield claimed the national title in javelin with a winning throw of 36.19 meters (118 feet, 8 inches), securing 10 points for the Owls. After a strong series throughout the event, Warfield saved her best throw for last, moving into the top spot and officially becoming a national champion.
In addition to her championship performance, Warfield also earned a second-place finish in the women’s shot put with a mark of 10.68 meters (35 feet, ½ inch), adding eight more points for UCNJ. Her consistent efforts throughout the competition showcased her versatility and strength across multiple throwing events.
Warfield’s remarkable national championship meet also resulted in All-American honors in three separate events including javelin, shot put, and discus to solidify her place among the top field athletes in the nation.
Her accomplishments mark a historic moment for the UCNJ Track & Field program and cap off an incredible freshman year!
